25+ Years as a Pima County Assistant Public Defender - Felony - Felony Trial - Juvenile Delinquency - Appeals - Misdemeanor Trial
  • John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Safety and Justice Challenge January 2019-present, Core Member of the Pima County Jail Population Review (JPR) Committee. Attend weekly meetings to vet all eligible in custody clients for safe and supported release from jail. Review all client documents and information to develop arguments to support each individual’s release. Work with the Committee to develop stipulated release agreements, prepare motions and represent all clients at court hearing. Over 2,000 clients impacted and over 56,000 days in jail reduced.

  • National Center for State Courts Evidence-Based Judicial Decision-Making Curriculum Pilot Meeting Williamsburg, VA October 2019, Member of Pima County Team.
  • STEPS (Supportive Treatment and Engagement Programs) 2019-2020, Participant in planning and development of Superior Court’s new pre-indictment, drug diversion program which provides arrestees charged with felony drug possession with the opportunity for early drug treatment and education.
  • Housing First/Permanent Supportive Housing Pilot Project 2019-2021, Member of Learning Collaborative. Provided training and education of defense attorneys to encourage their identification and enrollment of qualifying clients.
